Privacy
In short: what you type stays on your device. No account, no cookies, no advertising. We only count visits, without cookies, as aggregated statistics.

What you type in the calendar
The planting calendar works entirely in your browser (JavaScript). The town, frost dates and options you choose are never sent to us or to anyone else, and they are not saved.
When you choose a country, your browser downloads that country's list of towns and climate figures from this same website (small files under /data/). Your search is then done inside your browser: the town you type is not sent. Like any page request, these downloads go through our host (see Hosting below).
Offline use and the install hint
So that SowClock also works offline and can be installed on your phone, your browser keeps a copy of the pages, files and town lists you have opened in its own cache, on your device only; nothing about it is sent to us. If you close the "Install SowClock on your phone" hint, your browser's local storage keeps one entry (sowclock.installHint.dismissed) so that the hint is not shown again. Clearing your browser's data for this site deletes both.
Cookies
The site uses no cookies. That is why there is no cookie banner.
Audience measurement
To know how many visits the site receives, which pages are read and how fast they load, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., which already hosts the site. On each page view, a small script (loaded from static.cloudflareinsights.com) sends these measurements to Cloudflare. We only see aggregated statistics.
According to Cloudflare, Web Analytics does not use any client-side state such as cookies or localStorage, does not fingerprint visitors through their IP address or browser, and does not track individual users across websites. (source: Cloudflare Web Analytics; Cloudflare, data origin and collection) We do not sell any data.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages). Like any host, Cloudflare processes technical connection data (for example your IP address) to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
If you write to us
If you email contact@sowclock.com (for example from the feedback box at the bottom of each page), your message is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing (Cloudflare, Inc., which already hosts the site) to the publisher's personal mailbox, a Gmail account (a Google service). (source: Cloudflare, Email Routing) No copy is kept on the website itself.
We receive your email address and what you choose to write. We use them only to read your message, correct the site if needed and reply to you. They are not shared with anyone other than these two technical providers. We keep your message only as long as needed to reply and follow up, then delete it. Please do not include information we do not need.
The person responsible for these messages is the publisher, David Billay (see the legal notice). You can ask us at any time to access or delete your messages. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, such as the CNIL in France.
